The IIA’s Global Board of Directors on Thursday 7th 2021 approved selection of a veteran business strategist and professional services organization executive as The IIA’s next President and Chief Executive Officer. Anthony J. Pugliese will join The IIA on 8 March. He will succeed Richard F. Chambers, who announced plans last year to step down effective 31 March.
Anthony brings a fresh approach and mindset, as well as keen business acumen. He is currently President and CEO of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA), the country’s largest state-based CPA association, where he led transformation of the organization’s culture, grew membership to the highest level in CalCPA’s 111-year history.
Previously, he was Executive Vice President of Membership, Technology and Learning at the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants and, before that, Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President at the affiliated American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Anthony began his career with Deloitte, rising to Audit Manager with responsibility for accounting, auditing, and IT services for financial services clients.
